Laura M. Attieh
Associate Attorney
McAndrews, Mehalick, Connolly, Hulse and Ryan P.C. (MLO) is pleased to announce that Attorney Laura Attieh has joined our legal team where she will focus her practice in our special education department. Ms. Attieh brings with her nearly 15 years of child advocacy experience, having handled hundreds of complex and highly sensitive cases regarding children within the criminal justice system.
Ms. Attieh served as Deputy District Attorney for Northampton County, prosecuting the largest, most complex case of human trafficking in the Lehigh Valley — obtaining a 76 ½ year-to-life imprisonment sentence protecting multiple victims. Commonwealth v. Seth Mull (Dec 2018).
As Chief Prosecutor of the Juvenile Unit coupled with her serving on the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit, she addressed hundreds of cases involving children within the criminal justice system related to issues of dependency, truancy, and school discipline. The interplay between such cases within special education may be overlooked, leaving parents very under-represented. Ms. Attieh’s career experience and skills enable her to provide comprehensive and compassionate representation for children with disabilities and their families. At McAndrews Law Offices, she looks forward to representing students of all ages, including post-secondary matters, in Title IX proceedings. Child advocacy is Ms. Attieh’s passion and her reputation as a remarkable trial attorney in these areas speaks for itself.
Ms. Attieh received her Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Michigan in 2009, with a concentration in Administrative Law. She earned the Certificate of Merit Award in Family Law, Dean’s List, and served as the Comstock-Riley Class President. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Consumer Economics, as well as a Minor in Legal Studies, from the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware in 2005. She was also on the Dean’s list, a member of the women’s Volleyball Club Team, and served as Head Coach for Delaware Junior Olympics 16’s Club Team.
