In the spring of 2015, I Faked Happiness Every Day. Then a Drug Addiction Story Saved Me by Allyson McAndrews was published by several mental health publications. including NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness. This month, NAMI featured Allyson’s photo quote (below) on their website. The inspirational quote states, “Depression and mental illness see no color. It is not a choice. Mental illness is not for the lazy, the weak, the poor or the unmotivated. If anything, it has made me want to work harder.” We are ever so grateful for NAMI’s advocacy work and quest to #breakthestigma surrounding mental illness. Visit the post on NAMI’s site here!
