This past month, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolfe signed a bill that will require more training for police officers and district magisterial judges in recognizing and understanding persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and autism. This bill has potential to reduce officer injury, bystander injury, and consumer injury, as well as quickly getting people in the right hands of the appropriate services.
