BERWYN, PENNSYLVANIA, March 2019 – Nationally recognized firm McAndrews Law Offices is excited to announce the opening of its Pittsburgh office to serve Western Pennsylvania in the fields of special education, educational advocacy, special needs planning, estate planning, and special needs trusts.
MLO has welcomed an outstanding attorney to work full-time in education law in that office, Nancy E. Potter, Esq., who began with our firm on March 18. Nancy has deep roots in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, having served as an attorney at the Education Law Center in Pittsburgh for several years, where she worked intensively in the field of special education and educational advocacy. Nancy also gained significant experience in special education and educational advocacy during her work as a staff attorney at Kids Voice in Pittsburgh where she provided legal representation to abused, neglected, and at-risk children. Nancy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where she excelled and received several honors and then went on to serve as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Oliver J. Lobaugh. Most recently, Nancy served in a supervisory role at the United States Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights for the past 3 1/2 years. During that time, Nancy was also an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Nancy’s practice includes cases in all major areas of education advocacy, with a focus on special education, Title IX and enforcing the education rights of the most vulnerable students. Nancy provides legal representation to students and families from early intervention through post-secondary education in the areas of special education, education civil rights, student discipline, and enrollment of special populations. She will provide training, advocacy materials and technical assistance on education law to parent and student groups, lawyers, advocates and service providers and has been a frequent guest lecturer at area universities and law schools.
Nancy Potter is excited to become the face of our special education practice in the Pittsburgh area, where she has very close relationships from her many years in Western Pennsylvania. McAndrews Law Offices will also be announcing in the weeks ahead our new estate planning and special needs trust attorney who will begin with us in late April in our Pittsburgh office.
