Joe McGettigan, Esq. and Devon Preparatory’s mock trial team at McAndrews Law Offices’ courtroom
As part of the recent expansion of our office in Berwyn, our Estates and Trusts Department recently sponsored the use of our new courtroom for trainings to local high schools’ mock trial teams. This public service provided a realistic courtroom setting for students in our community and included presentations on cross-examination and direct-examination by Joseph McGettigan, Esq. and Dennis McAndrews, Esq. of McAndrews Law Offices. Along with the presentations, we offered the assistance of Mr. McGettigan to serve as a practice judge for the mock trial preparations. Mr. McGettigan is well-known as the prosecutor of Jerry Sandusky and John duPont, and has served as First Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties, as well as in a variety of other significant legal roles.
The Devon Preparatory School came to McAndrews Law Offices with a team of 11 well-versed students and several coaches including Michael Collins, Devon Preparatory School’s Mock Trial Moderator. Everyone was thoroughly engaged, eager to learn and appreciative for this unique opportunity. The team also had the chance to meet Lesley Mehalick, J.D., LL.M., Supervising Partner of McAndrews Law Offices’ Estates and Trusts Department, and hear a brief overview about the department as well as receive copies of our McAndrews Law Offices Estates, Trusts and Wealth Transfer Department folders. We are thrilled to announce that the young men went on to win the Chester County Championship!
