BERWYN, PENNSYLVANIA, January 2019 – McAndrews Law Offices, P.C. is pleased to announce the selection of three new shareholders in the firm. Katharine Ryan, Anthony Marone and Caitlin McAndrews have achieved the prestige of being selected as shareholders, and each of these outstanding attorneys have proven themselves to be magnificent professionals who bring unique talents and backgrounds to our legal family. Katie Ryan is the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Marone is a nationally respected expert in elder law and special needs planning, and Caitlin McAndrews is barred in five jurisdictions where she practices extensively in both special education and estate planning. While most of our clients and friends already know these talented individuals, we are excited to formally announce their new roles and to introduce them further to the public.
Katharine M. Ryan, Chief Executive Officer: Katie Joined MLO as Chief Executive Officer in May 2017. She has been an attorney for 33 years and brings 25 years of law firm management experience to the position. She has managed her own highly successful law firm, was a founding partner in two law firms, and was a litigation/supervisory partner in another large firm. In addition, she has litigated highly complex and challenging matters for over three decades in multiple courts throughout the country. She oversees the general management and operations of the firm, and participates extensively in litigation matters and in assessing clients’ needs through participation in numerous client meetings. She is a graduate of the Villanova University School of Law, Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, 1984, and the University of Delaware, B.A. (Business), 1981.
Anthony L. Marone, Esquire: Anthony Marone is a member of the Estates and Trusts Department of McAndrews Law Offices, P.C., and has extensive experience representing elderly and disabled individuals in a variety of matters involving elder law matters, Medical Assistance benefits, wills and trusts, estate planning, decedents’ estates, guardianship, and Special Needs Trusts. He has pursued cases on behalf of his clients in a variety of forums including Orphans’ Court, Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court, Federal Court, as well as administrative hearings. He successfully litigated matters involving Medicaid Qualifying Annuities, Medical Assistance eligibility, eligibility of aliens for public benefits, distributions from Special Needs Trusts, and guardianships of intellectually disabled and mentally ill individuals. Prior to joining McAndrews Law Offices, P.C., Mr. Marone was an Assistant Counsel in the Office of General Counsel to the Governor of Pennsylvania for seven years, and prior to that time Mr. Marone was a sole practicing attorney in Philadelphia. Mr. Marone served as a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1984 to 2007. His military specialty was intelligence analysis and he held a top-secret security clearance. After the September 11th terrorist attacks, Mr. Marone was deployed overseas as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was also mobilized with the Pennsylvania Guard for every natural disaster in southeastern Pennsylvania from 1984 to 2007 and was deployed to Louisiana for Operation Katrina Relief. Mr. Marone is a Veterans Administration Accredited Attorney. He is a graduate of Temple University School of Law, Juris Doctor, 1993, and Drexel University, B.S. (dual degree in History and Political Science), Magna Cum Laude, 1990.
Caitlin McAndrews, Esquire: Caitlin McAndrews practices in the fields of special education, estate planning, and Title IX litigation. Ms. McAndrews works in the Southern Delaware and Washington, D.C. area offices.
Ms. McAndrews has worked at McAndrews Law Offices since high school, and quickly developed a desire to serve individuals with disabilities and their families. After college, she worked as a special educator in the Philadelphia area and received a Distinguished Teaching Award. During law school, she interned at University Legal Services, the Protection & Advocacy group for people with disabilities in the District of Columbia and in a Juvenile and Special Education Law Clinic. After law school, Ms. McAndrews has continuously represented individuals with special needs and their families, both at McAndrews Law Offices and through a clerkship with Delaware’s Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI). She is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law, Juris Doctor, 2012 (top 5% of her class), and the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, 2006. She also attended a Master’s Degree program at Penn State University, where she obtained 30 credits toward a graduate degree in Special Education.
